There are few matters in life which reveal so much of a person as the manner in which they choose to arrange their home.

A room, after all, is never merely a room. It is a place of conversation and contemplation, of hurried mornings and lingering evenings, of visits expected and unexpected, of solitude, celebration, and all those ordinary occasions which, though easily overlooked, so often prove to be the most memorable.

It was with this understanding that Tempest Furnitur came to be.

We have always believed that furniture ought to possess more than usefulness alone. A chair may support the body, certainly, but ought it not also please the eye? A table may serve dinner, but may it not also become the center of a household? A sofa may occupy a considerable portion of a room, but if one is to devote so much space to it, surely it ought to offer both comfort and beauty in equal measure.

Our purpose has never been simply to furnish rooms. It is to help create homes.

A Regard for Both Beauty and Usefulness

There exists a rather unfortunate belief that beauty and practicality must forever be at odds with one another. We cannot agree.

A handsome piece of furniture which cannot tolerate ordinary life is of limited value, and a practical piece without charm may perform its duty admirably while inspiring very little affection.

At Tempest Furnitur, we are fond of the middle ground — that pleasing place where appearance, comfort, and usefulness are permitted to exist together. We are drawn to clean forms, thoughtful proportions, inviting materials, and details which possess distinction without demanding constant admiration.
